Our essential weekly routine that I actually love, Our essential weekly routine that I actually love, brought to you by toddler bagel placement and clearance organic coffee. 🥯 Swipe for the meal plan if you can decipher it through the three year old’s alternative daily options. 👍 . Our monthly budget is £500 and it drops into a Monzo pot for easy tracking. Then weekly we aim for a £115 spend to make room for things other than the weekly shop. We’ll top this up with bulk flour, eggs from our ducks (their food comes from this budget), greens from the garden, apples we were given, and some bits we already have from last week. We meal plan tightly to make the budget work and to stay sane in busy life. . This is a routine I’ve come to love and find so grounding and peaceful but only because we have a budget we know is correct for our family, and a strategy and buy in from everyone on making that happen. . I did a full breakdown of how we use the more ethical bank Monzo to budget and do the organisation of our monthly budgets - comment Monzo and I’ll send it to your DMs. We find it SO helpful, it’s free (you actually get a bit for setting up an account with a refer-a-friend link) and it practically works in real, busy life with a brain that doesn’t feel organised… which is what my life is. 🤪

What would you do with this - I think the final op What would you do with this - I think the final option is maybe the most workable?! ⬆️❓We found it in our attic after a year living here, washed it off and now it’s our job to do something responsible with it. It’s not going to charity shops cos they’re my favourite place to BUY from for the same reason they’re my LEAST favourite place to sell things on. Too much of the clothing has a sinister story when it leaves those high street stores. A lot of what doesn’t sell ends up in clothing dumps in the global south, and in landfill. So it’s always my goal to see something go to a human and not the easier route of a charity shop. Or to find a use for it ourselves. . So what would you do here?!
Honestly, this wasn’t all a dreamy London day an Honestly, this wasn’t all a dreamy London day and it stressed me out alongside being beautiful. 😆 London is London and day here can always look good on a reel, but for honesty, this one wasn’t our best. Home educating has been an up and down for us, and I want to be honest and not make every day in the city look like a dream. I’m also finding the whole educating my own kids thing hard in places. 🤪 . There are GLORIOUS moments in it that I treasure, and also it’s maybe taking its toll on me, in a way that maybe doesn’t make me the best mother?! I’m not sure. We’re not sure where this trial will lead for us, we’re in chats about different options for our family and I’m trying to analyse myself and my own feelings towards us… the opinions I hold that are right and unpicking some that are probably wrong. But we’re soaking up all the days like this that we can while this is the option we’re choosing! . Highly recommend everything we did today though - and thanks @danone.yogurt for having a yogurt stand right when the kids needed one! . But definitely for the holidays as we approach this higher waste, higher consumption, very keeping-up-with-the-Joneses, and living up to others’ expectation time of year. 😬 . Comment FOOD for a fly on the wall look at what a week of eating in our home looks and what ever weekly shop looks like on this budget. . We’re half way through the month (18/30 days) and we’re on track except I need to put some money aside for a quarterly flour delivery (usually £20/month) and I need to buy some duck food. We’re taking that from the food budget cos the goal of ducks wasn’t to spend more money. They’re covering our eggs so their food comes from the food budget! 🦆 .

And… we can scratch eggs off the shopping list. And… we can scratch eggs off the shopping list. 👏 . £115 later. 😂 . We were really lucky in how little it cost us, these were the only ducks I found anywhere for £10 and I had to drive 3 hours for them. Then we managed to house/feed them from the start in things we already had (a big plastic box, a paint tray, a baking sheet, an old ice cream tub for food and a gallon vinegar jug for water.) I just had to buy a heat lamp: £20 from Facebook Marketplace. .
